THIS WILL BE PARKER'S LAST EMAIL FROM AUSTRALIA. ;-( She will arrive home April 3rd, 2020. She will be released as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, go into a 14-day isolation and will decide what's next. She has been a trooper through it all and we are so thankful for a wonderful mission president, Derek Marquis and for his wife, Colleen. We are so grateful to them for the many hours and dedication along with all the senior missionaries in getting all the missionaries home.

Hello everybody and welcome to another episode of Ned's Declassified: Corona survival guide.. I am your host Sister Parker Lockhart coming at you live from MAWSON LAKES IN SA BECAUSE I GOT TRANSFERRED. President Marquis thought the members were liking me too much ... six and a half months is pretty heckin long so I don't disagree with him. Plus, how could you not LOVE me???!!!

But seriously. I'm so over this coronarrhea crap (hehe) and I just want you all to know that I have the answer to your questions, concerns, and worries. And it's only one word and rhymes with yezus.

Due to being quarantined, we have been blessed with much time to dive deep into the beautiful Gospel of Jesus Christ. Yesterday, I had the thought the re-watch a talk from 2009. A talk that btw was written for this very second that you are in, right now. So if you don't already know by now then ***NEWSFLASH*** THIS CHURCH IS LEAD BY GOD. and the amazing and wonderful Prophet, President Russell M. Nelson, conveys everything God wants us / needs us to hear. *yes* it is scary. Sure. It is. Reaaaally spooky. But the reason I'm being so lame about this is because I know everything is gonna be okay. And so you need not fear.

I don't really wanna give away my secret sauce part three for all this but I can't hype it up this much and not let you all in on my secret.

Find a quite space, humble yourself and listen to this talk. Just listen to the 16 minutes that this Apostle of God let's us know exactly what we need to do in times of despair. And if you want to feel comfort, if you need burdens lifted and fog removed from your rearview mirror, listen. But don't forget to act. :)

"Safety for the Soul" by: Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

I love each of you, and please don't ever think for one second that Heavenly Father doesn't love you or the people of this earth. We cannot comprehend how much he truly does love us. And it seems crazy to think that when we can think, "why does this have to happen then if he loves us" but I promise you with every fiber of my being, that he does care. And he does love us. He wants us to know the truth and to have peace of mind and heart and we can!!! If we ask, but FIRST, we have to trust Him.

ALSO let your hearts be prepared for this weekend. I can promise you as a set apart representative of Jesus Christ, that this weekend can change your life for the better. You just have to do the work. Remember, if it's easy it won't be worth it. So prepare! And love! And be HAPPPIIII. This life is beautiful and magical and so many blessings are waiting around the corner for the humble and faithful.

Stay safe and plz wash your hands.. also if chickfila is closed when I get home I'm blaming all of you.

WITH (IMPATIENT) LOVE FROM QUARANTINE,,,,

The Future of the Church: Preparing the World for the Savior’s Second Coming

By President Russell M. Nelson
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is preparing the world for the day when “the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord” (Isaiah 11:9).
Within Our Grasp, by Jay Bryant Ward, may not be copied
You and I get to participate in the ongoing Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is wondrous! It is not man-made! It comes from the Lord, who said, “I will hasten my work in its time” (Doctrine and Covenants 88:73). This work is empowered by a divine announcement made 200 years ago. It consisted of only seven words: “This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!” (see Joseph Smith—History 1:17).
Uttered by Almighty God, that announcement brought a young Joseph Smith to the Lord Jesus Christ. Those seven words launched the Restoration of His gospel. Why? Because our living God is a loving God! He wants His children to gain immortality and eternal life! The great latter-day work of which we are a part was established, on schedule, to bless a waiting and weeping world.
I cannot speak of the Restoration in tempered tones. This fact of history is absolutely stunning! It is incredible! It is breathtaking! How amazing is it that messengers from heaven came to give authority and power to this work?
Today, the Lord’s work in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is moving forward at an accelerated pace. The Church will have an unprecedented, unparalleled future. “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, … the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9; see also Doctrine and Covenants 76:10).
Remember that the fulness of Christ’s ministry lies in the future. The prophecies of His Second Coming have yet to be fulfilled. We are just building up to the climax of this last dispensation—when the Savior’s Second Coming becomes a reality.

Gathering Israel on Both Sides of the Veil

A necessary prelude to that Second Coming is the long-awaited gathering of scattered Israel (see 1 Nephi 15:18; see also the title page of the Book of Mormon). This doctrine of the gathering is one of the important teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Lord has declared: “I give unto you a sign … that I shall gather in, from their long dispersion, my people, O house of Israel, and shall establish again among them my Zion” (3 Nephi 21:1).
We not only teach this doctrine, but we participate in it. We do so as we help to gather the elect of the Lord on both sides of the veil. As part of the planned destiny of the earth and its inhabitants, our kindred dead are to be redeemed (see Doctrine and Covenants 128:15). Mercifully, the invitation to “come unto Christ” (Jacob 1:7Moroni 10:32Doctrine and Covenants 20:59) can also be extended to those who died without a knowledge of the gospel (see Doctrine and Covenants 137:6–8). Part of their preparation, however, requires the earthly efforts of others. We gather pedigree charts, create family group sheets, and do temple work vicariously to gather individuals unto the Lord and into their families (see 1 Corinthians 15:291 Peter 4:6).
Holiness to The Lord, by Jay Bryant Ward, may not be copied
Families are to be sealed together for all eternity (see Doctrine and Covenants 2:2–349:17138:48Joseph Smith—History 1:39). A welding link is to be forged between the fathers and the children. In our time, a whole, complete, and perfect union of all dispensations, keys, and powers are to be welded together (see Doctrine and Covenants 128:18). For these sacred purposes, holy temples now dot the earth. I emphasize again that construction of these temples may not change your life, but your service in the temple surely will.
The time is coming when those who do not obey the Lord will be separated from those who do (see Doctrine and Covenants 86:1–7). Our safest insurance is to continue to be worthy of admission to His holy house. The greatest gift you could give to the Lord is to keep yourself unspotted from the world, worthy to attend His holy house. His gift to you will be the peace and security of knowing that you are worthy to meet Him, whenever that time comes.
In addition to temple work, the coming forth of the Book of Mormon is a sign to the entire world that the Lord has commenced to gather Israel and fulfill the covenants He made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (see Genesis 12:2–33 Nephi 21; 29). The Book of Mormon declares the doctrine of the gathering (see, for example, 1 Nephi 10:14). It causes people to learn about Jesus Christ, to believe His gospel, and to join His Church. In fact, if there were no Book of Mormon, the promised gathering of Israel would not occur.
Missionary work is also crucial to that gathering. Servants of the Lord go forth proclaiming the Restoration. In many nations our members and missionaries have searched for those of scattered Israel; they have hunted for them “out of the holes of the rocks” (Jeremiah 16:16); and they have fished for them, as in ancient days.
Missionary work connects people to the covenant the Lord made with Abraham anciently:
“Thou shalt be a blessing unto thy seed after thee, that in their hands they shall bear this ministry and Priesthood unto all nations;
“And I will bless them through thy name; for as many as receive this Gospel shall be called after thy name, and shall be accounted thy seed, and shall rise up and bless thee, as their father” (Abraham 2:9–10).
Missionary work is only the beginning of the blessing. The fulfillment, the consummation, of those blessings comes as those who have entered the waters of baptism perfect their lives to the point that they may enter the holy temple. Receiving an endowment there seals members of the Church to the Abrahamic covenant.
The choice to come unto Christ is not a matter of physical location; it is a matter of individual commitment. All members of the Church have access to the doctrine, ordinances, priesthood keys, and blessings of the gospel, regardless of their location. People can be “brought to the knowledge of the Lord” (3 Nephi 20:13) without leaving their homelands.
True, in the early days of the Church, conversion often meant emigration as well. But now the gathering takes place in each nation. The Lord has decreed the establishment of Zion (see Doctrine and Covenants 6:611:6) in each realm where He has given His Saints their birth and nationality. The place of gathering for Brazilian Saints is in Brazil; the place of gathering for Nigerian Saints is in Nigeria; the place of gathering for Korean Saints is in Korea. Zion is “the pure in heart” (Doctrine and Covenants 97:21). It is wherever righteous Saints are.
Spiritual security will always depend upon how one lives, not where one lives. I promise that if we will do our best to exercise faith in Jesus Christ and access the power of His Atonement through repentance, we will have the knowledge and power of God to help us take the blessings of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people and to prepare the world for the Second Coming of the Lord.

The Second Coming

The Lord will return to the land that He made holy by His mission there in mortality. In triumph, He will come again to Jerusalem. In royal robes of red to symbolize His blood, which oozed from every pore, He shall return to the Holy City (see Doctrine and Covenants 133:46–48). There and elsewhere, “the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together” (Isaiah 40:5; see also Doctrine and Covenants 101:23). His “name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
He will govern from two world capitals: one in old Jerusalem (see Zechariah 14) and the other in the New Jerusalem “built upon the American continent” (Articles of Faith 1:10). From these centers He will direct the affairs of His Church and kingdom. Another temple will yet be built in Jerusalem. From that temple He shall reign forever as Lord of Lords. Water will issue from under the temple. Waters of the Dead Sea will be healed. (See Ezekiel 47:1–8.)
In that day He will bear new titles and be surrounded by special Saints. He will be known as “Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that [will be] with him [will be those who] are called, and chosen, and faithful” (Revelation 17:14) to their trust here in mortality. Then He “shall reign for ever and ever” (Revelation 11:15).
The earth will be returned to its paradisiacal state and be made new. There will be a new heaven and a new earth (see Revelation 21:1Ether 13:9Doctrine and Covenants 29:23–24).
It is our charge—it is our privilege—to help prepare the world for that day.

Face the Future with Faith

Meanwhile, here and now, we live in a time of turmoil. Earthquakes and tsunamis wreak devastation, governments collapse, economic stresses are severe, the family is under attack, and divorce rates are rising. We have great cause for concern. But we do not need to let our fears displace our faith. We can combat those fears by strengthening our faith.
Why do we need such resilient faith? Because difficult days are ahead. Rarely in the future will it be easy or popular to be a faithful Latter-day Saint. Each of us will be tested. The Apostle Paul warned that in the latter days, those who diligently follow the Lord “shall suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12). That very persecution can either crush you into silent weakness or motivate you to be more exemplary and courageous in your daily lives.
How you deal with life’s trials is part of the development of your faith. Strength comes when you remember that you have a divine nature, an inheritance of infinite worth. The Lord has reminded you, your children, and your grandchildren that you are lawful heirs, that you have been reserved in heaven for your specific time and place to be born, to grow and become His standard bearers and covenant people. As you walk in the Lord’s path of righteousness, you will be blessed to continue in His goodness and be a light and a savior unto His people (see Doctrine and Covenants 86:8–11).
Do whatever it takes to strengthen your faith in Jesus Christ by increasing your understanding of the doctrine taught in His restored Church and by relentlessly seeking truth. Anchored in pure doctrine, you will be able to step forward with faith and dogged persistence and cheerfully do all that lies in your power to fulfill the purposes of the Lord.
You will have days when you will be discouraged. So pray for courage not to give up! Sadly, some whom you thought were your friends will betray you. And some things will simply seem unfair.
However, I promise you that as you follow Jesus Christ, you will find sustained peace and true joy. As you keep your covenants with increasing precision, and as you defend the Church and kingdom of God on the earth today, the Lord will bless you with strength and wisdom to accomplish what only members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can accomplish.
We are to be builders of an individual faith in God, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and faith in His Church. We are to build families and be sealed in holy temples. We are to build the Church and kingdom of God upon the earth (see Matthew 6:33). We are to prepare for our own divine destiny: glory, immortality, and eternal lives (see Romans 2:7Doctrine and Covenants 75:5).
I humbly testify to you that—as the Prophet Joseph Smith proclaimed—the restored gospel of Jesus Christ “will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done” (History of the Church, 4:540).
We are engaged in the work of Almighty God. I pray for His blessings to be with each and every one of you.

More Changes Because of Covid-19

From Church Headquarters-
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We take very seriously the health and safety of our missionaries and of those they teach. The rapidly developing travel advisories and restrictions that are emerging around the world present significant logistical and other challenges. Therefore, the following temporary adjustments are being made:
  • In the coming weeks, based upon world conditions, substantial numbers of missionaries will likely need to be returned to their home nations to continue their service. This will be done in a systematic way based on the urgency of travel restrictions, level of COVID-19 concern, and other considerations.
  • Returning missionaries will go through a 14-day period of self-isolation and then may be assigned to serve within their home country, based on local conditions.
  • The term of service for missionaries returning to or serving within the United States will likely be reduced to accommodate the large number of missionaries returning from around the world.
  • Missionary training centers worldwide will not receive new missionaries. MTC training for missionaries will take place through technology, and missionaries will be sent to their assigned mission as soon as possible.
As we evaluate changing conditions, further necessary adjustments will be made.
We love and pray for our missionaries and their families. We are grateful for the continued prayers and support of parents, loved ones, and Church members as we make every effort to help them remain safe and well in these challenging times.
Sincerely,
The First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

Australia Adelaide Mission
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

22 March 2020

Dear Parents and Stake Presidents:

As most of you will be aware, the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve notified Church members worldwide yesterday of temporary adjustments being made with missionaries serving around the world.

The letter stated:

“In the coming weeks, based on world conditions, substantial numbers of missionaries will likely need to be returned to their home nations to continue their service. This will be done in a systematic way based on the urgency of travel restrictions, level of COVID-19 concern, and other considerations.”

As stated in the First Presidency’s letter, reassignments and releases are being handled in a “systematic way.” At present, all missionaries serving in the Australia Adelaide Mission with release dates between now and early June have returned home or are in the process of returning home (pending flight arrangements).

We receive regular updates from the missionary department and the Pacific Area Presidency and at present do not know whether or when additional adjustments might take effect in Australia. As soon as we hear anything new, you will be the first to know!

Out of an abundance of caution due to domestic airlines reducing flights within Australia and discussions that in-home quarantines could be put into place for individuals crossing Australian state borders, I have temporarily relocated all of our missionaries serving in the Alice Springs, Darwin and Mildura zones. They are being reassigned to areas in Adelaide.

At present, in all of South Australia (the region of all our Adelaide zones), and with a population of 1.7 million people, there have been a total of 67 cases of individuals identified with the Coronavirus with no deaths reported.

Please know that our missionaries are safe and healthy and fully engaged in the work of salvation. They are moving forward with extraordinary faith and fulfilling their missionary purpose. We couldn’t be more proud of them as they are out in force with the answers to the questions of the soul of which so many in the world are seeking.

With great love from Adelaide,

President & Sister Marquis

A Letter To The Missionary Force Of The World

Dear Missionaries,
There are a few things you absolutely must know. It doesn’t matter if you’re still in the field, riding on an airplane with a mask over your face, or already home. You need to know how special you are to this world, to your family, to your friends, and to the Savior. Maybe your mission was cut short, maybe you’re cooped up in a tiny apartment, maybe people are giving you the stink eye (even more than usual) just for showing your face in public. But no matter what, you need to know that you are a light to a world that is suffering in darkness and despair. From the minute you put that badge on your chest, you became a hope to the nations.
greg trimble
But… your mission shouldn’t end the minute you step off that plane. Give your mom a hug, eat your favorite meal, get a good night of rest and then mentally suit back up. That badge doesn’t ever have to come off your chest. It can be engrained upon your heart forever.
It’s not time to go back to pulling all nighters with Call of Duty or endless games of Fortnite. It’s not time to go back to your old playlist or relax your standards just a bit. Your work as a missionary is not done. In fact it’s just beginning. The experiences you learned, whether your time was short or long in the mission field, should shape the rest of your lives and guide you in a direction of representing the Savior in all that you do.
There is so much you can do. Become a virtual missionary. Make videos, write songs, post on social media, find people who need help, share uplifting messages, and let your testimony be heard throughout all nations through the power of technology. Use the tools available to you not for consumption but as a missionary and ministering tool.
Some missionaries come home from their missions and figure that they’ll take a nice long break. They figure that they’ve done more than enough service to God and that they deserve to take a break. They worked hard to become the best missionaries they could during the time that they served. But the best missionaries are not those who go on a mission for a couple years or a couple months and then come home and rest. The best missionaries are those who come home, take what they’ve learned, and then apply it to every aspect of their lives. The best missionaries are they who have learned what it means to become a disciple of Christ for their entire lives and not only for two years or the span of time in which they wear that badge. The longevity of one’s post mission service to others is the ultimate barometer of how impactful and important their mission was to them. The next generation is in your hands.
I guess what I’m trying to say is this. We owe the Lord more than two years. You are in the prime of your life. Give Him the prime of your life and give Him the rest of your life. Be an “all in” lifelong missionary and disciple of Christ. Because if you zoom out and look at life from a high level, you’ll see that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the only thing holding this world together. There is no hope without it.
I know it may seem like a lot of work. To be missionary minded for the rest of your life?!!! And that’s the irony of it all. The more you commit to God… the more he continues to bless you. The happier you will be. The more peace you will have in your life as things get continually harder. While everyone around you is falling to pieces, you have kept your mind and heart fixated on Christ and eternal things. You will live in the service of others and become immortalized by those you serve. You will become less selfish and more selfless. You will never feel like you’re not “living up to your potential” because our greatest potential is to live a life that enhances the lives of other people. That is true success. That is the heart of a missionary.

Hello everyone:) I know this week has probably been crazy for all of you, wherever the heck you are. So my apologies on behalf of all the PSYCHO PEOPLE WHO STEAL ALL THE TOILET PAPER!!!!!!!! I just want to laugh because it's actually hysterical because when one person freaks out, then everyone else freaks out and then it's a global thing and the media makes it all awful for no reason and then the sane people have to start eating their couch cushions because #nofood. Hopefully it doesn't get to that point..

While all that is just "fun and games", the missionary work continues. I think people need God now more than ever. Although there's the sad question, "If your God is so real then why doesn't he just come down here and make all the bad stuff stop?!!!!!!!!!!" (exclamation marks because people get very heated when this is a part of our conversation) Whaaaale, lettuce look at it like this........... when you're a child, you get fed your food. You can't do it on your own due to the lack of understanding on how to put the spoon in your mouth and not have the cereal toppel off the side (not speaking from experience, I know how to eat cereal). So when you're older and bigger and know how to use a spoon, it's quite helpful when you're hungry. On the contrary, imagine if you never stopped being "spoon fed." Imagine if your parents up until however old you are right now, were feeding you. A. That'd be flippin weird and B. YOU would be the psycho C. You would never learn how to feed yourself!

Just like we're taught how to use a spoon, our Heavenly Father sent us to earth to teach us. So we grow up and are whispered what to say for the opening prayer in  primary. But then you learn how to do it on your own, therefore you don't need the help anymore. Heavenly Father isn't going to give us all the information we need and take away all the bad things and make everything perfect. Because if He did, we wouldn't learn. It's that simple. We're taught what's right and it's up to us, at that point of understanding, if we should be independant or spoon fed.

Realizations like this help me to understand that it's all going to be A-OKAY! I know it's scary, trust me. But we've been prepared in the life before and up until this point. WE KNOW WHAT TO DO, WE KNOW WHAT'S RIGHT AND WHAT IS REQUIRED OF US. But YOU'RE the one who either leaves or removes the spoon from your mouth.

In 3 Nephi chapter 12, Jesus Christ calls his 12 Apostles. Specifically, verse one says, "And it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words unto Nephi, and  to those who had been called, (now the number of them who had been called, and received power and authority to baptize was twelve) and behold he stretched forth his hand unto the multitude, and cried unto them, saying: Blessed are ye if ye give heed unto the words of the twelve whom I have chosen from among you to minister unto you and to be your servants.."

Just let that soak in. Jesus Christ, himself, called 12 apostles back when he was on the earth. And here we are today, in a church that has 12 Apostles with that EXACT same authority to be "our servants." How cool that we get to be apart of a Church so special and real. This is HIS Church and if we follow the council of the Prophet, President Nelson AND his apostles, we will be okay. And to be "okay" is a pretty big thing. Especially now.

So I challenge you all to reconsider if you are "giving heed unto the words of the twelve" because if we do, if you do, then "Blessed are ye.."

I love this gospel and I love Australia. Please stay safe and read the Book of Mormon for comfort. It can answer any questions you have. PROMISE.

HEAPS OF LOVE!!!!
